Sindh Government Takes Strong Action Against Excess Fares Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr

Karachi, March 22, 2025 – In a decisive move to protect citizens from inflated fares during the festive season, the Sindh government has canceled the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays of transport officers. Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, announced that all officers and staff from the Transport and Mass Transit Department will remain on duty throughout Eid to ensure that transporters do not charge excess fares.

Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted that complaints about overcharging are common during Eid and emphasized the government’s commitment to preventing such practices. He stressed that no citizen should pay more than the approved fare and that transport officers will be actively monitoring and addressing any issues.

In addition to this, all officers of the Sindh Transport Authority and RTA/DRTAs will be available to resolve public complaints. The Sindh government has issued clear instructions to take strict action against those found violating fare regulations.

Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon urged the public not to pay more than the approved fares and to report any instances of overcharging immediately, ensuring that the government can take swift action. He assured citizens that the Sindh government is fully committed to protecting their interests and will not tolerate exploitation during this important festive period.
