Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will chair an important meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) in Islamabad this evening, called ahead of schedule on the request of the Sindh government. Originally set for May 2, the meeting has been brought forward to urgently address the growing concerns over the canals water distribution, a critical issue for Sindh.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will attend the meeting to present the province’s case, as Sindh continues to demand a fair and transparent water share. The canals issue, which has remained unresolved for years, is now expected to take center stage in the national debate.
A key outcome is expected from the discussions between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, with hopes high that today’s talks will lead to a long-overdue resolution.
Speaking earlier, provincial minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed that the canals issue would be a top priority and expressed confidence that Sindh’s concerns will be addressed in today’s CCI meeting.
