In a significant move towards sustainable rehabilitation and women empowerment, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited several villages in Hyderabad district to oversee the ongoing reconstruction efforts under the Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF) initiative. This flagship project by the Government of Sindh aims to rebuild lives of those displaced by the catastrophic 2022 floods.
During his visit to the villages of Haroon Sheikh, Jhundo Khoso, and Himmatabad, Chairman Bilawal reviewed the progress of house construction and the availability of basic amenities for the flood-affected families. A major highlight of his visit was the distribution of property ownership certificates, which have been issued in the names of women from the affected households — a progressive step to ensure long-term empowerment and economic security for the families.

“This is more than just a roof over your head — it’s a secure future,” Bilawal stated while addressing residents. “These homes are now your property, an asset you can pass on to your children. No one can take this away from you.”
He emphasized that the PPP-led Sindh Government had not only fulfilled its promise to rebuild homes but had also introduced a transformative policy by prioritizing women’s ownership, thereby giving them a rightful stake in family and community welfare.
In Village Jhundo Khoso, where 209 houses are planned, Bilawal handed over certificates for the 135 homes that have already been completed. He also visited Village Gul Hassan, where he inspected a specially designed tactile tile track aimed at helping visually impaired children navigate safely. There, he interacted with Gul Hassan (9) and Sajjad (13) — two visually impaired children who explained how the track had made a significant difference in their mobility and independence.
Later in Himmatabad, Bilawal visited a local school and dispensary established for the flood-affected community. He was briefed about the village’s history — once inhabited by victims of bonded labor, now resettled through government efforts. He expressed commitment to addressing the village’s pressing needs, especially clean water shortages, and directed party representatives to take swift action.
Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah accompanied the PPP Chairman during the visit, reflecting the provincial government’s strong coordination and focus on flood rehabilitation.
Bilawal’s visit marks not just an inspection tour, but a reaffirmation of the PPP’s grassroots commitment — rebuilding homes, restoring dignity, and empowering women to lead the future.
