In a landmark move aimed at improving the living standards of workers, the Minimum Wages Board Sindh has proposed a significant increase in the minimum wages for unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers across the province.
According to an official communique issued on Saturday, the revised minimum monthly wages will take effect from July 1, 2025. Under the proposal:
* Unskilled workers will receive a minimum monthly wage of Rs40,000,
* Semi-skilled workers Rs41,280,
* Skilled workers Rs48,910, and
* Highly skilled workers Rs50,868.
This progressive measure reflects the Sindh government’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights and ensuring fair compensation in light of rising living costs.
Secretary of the Minimum Wages Board, Muhammad Naeem Mangi, has invited all stakeholders to submit any objections or feedback within 14 days to ensure a transparent and consultative process.
All industrial units, whether registered or unregistered, operating in Sindh will be legally bound to comply with these revised wage standards — a step expected to bring greater economic justice and stability to the province’s labor force.
This proposed increase underscores Sindh’s leadership in labor reforms and sets a strong example for other provinces to follow in prioritizing the welfare and dignity of workers.
